NON SURGICAL HAIR LOSS TREATMENT

Non Surgical Hair treatment

The hereditary hair loss is progressive and unfortunately there is no cure of this. The medical treatment of hair loss helps to slow down the progression of hair thinning & baldness. In early stages of hair thinning these nonsurgical methods can help grow some hairs but full restoration of hair volume & hair line can only be possible with hair transplant.

1.Minoxidil:

The exact mechanism of action of minoxidil is not known but persistant use of topical minoxidil have shown to prong anagen ( active growth) cycle of hair. This result in linear growth ( length) of hair as well as thickness of individual hair fibre.

2.Finasteride:

Finasteride inhibits conversion of testosteron into dihydrotesteron (DHT) resulting in reduced levels of DHT which is directly responsible for androgenic alopecia ( Male pattern Baldness).

3.Low Level Laser Therapy: (LLLT)

Light at a certain frequency penetrates our skin & stimulates cells beneath to produce more proteins. Keratin, a substance derived from protein, is a key constituent of hair. So boosted protein production strengthens keratin & thus the hair itself. This light is delivered through a small light source within a helmet, cap or a handheld device like laser comb.

4.Platelet Rich Plasma:(PRP)

Platelet Rich Plasma, commonly known as PRP, is a concentration of human platelets (around 4-7 times baseline) in a small volume of plasma . It is obtained from the patient's own blood after processing in an automated centrifuge and it is injected subcutaneously into the area of alopecia. The platelets actively secrete growth factors within 10 minutes after activation. These growth factors stimulate hair growth and increase their thickness. By increasing blood supply they create overall favorable atmosphere for hair growth.

These nonsurgical treatments are either used separately in early stages of hair loss to delay or prevent further hair loss or they are used in tandem or as a complement therapy with hair transplant surgery to strengthen the remaining hairs or to enhance surgical result.
